Christ as the Good Shepherd

Christ

425 AD
Mosaic
Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Ravenna

Soon after the start of Christianity as the official religion of Rome. Christ’s appearance in art showed up everywhere. Christ is in the middle of the painting bringing your eyes toward Him. All the sheep are scattered around Him, but still with Him. – ATYS

This is a very intersting and beautiful piece of art for many reasons. I think the colors are really beautiful and I believe the who piece all together is effective in portraying a landscape. I also believe it is a great portrayal of the developement of the christian religion. The placement of Jesus in the picture is really important in order to portray this development in religion.
